VIRGINIA OPERA ASSOCIATION’S STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE- a snowy date night pre-view

VEER magazine, a free publication for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, ran a very good review/summary written by Montague Gammon (http://www.veermag.com/?p=309) of what my husband and I are about to enjoy on a snowy Saturday night out.  Of the female lead, BLANCHE DuBOIS (wow, talk about an opportunity to discuss women in film) it notes:

“Stage director Sam Helfrich promises that the Virginia Opera Association production of A Streetcar Named Desire, composer André Previn’s treatment of Tennessee Williams’ famous and famously quoted play, will give audiences an “an incredible actress“ in the role of Blanche, and a “portrayal” of that famously lost soul that will “very [much] surprise … audiences who know the play.”

Okay.  ?  Can’t wait!  Wahoo famously lost souls!  Haven’t we all been that once?

ImageMore on the Virginia Opera, their production of Streetcar, and- YES!!!-  a post on Vivien Leigh in the 1951 film later.
